Milestones

Since 1969, our company has grown from a one-man operation to an international corporation. As such, our history is marked by several important milestones.

 

1969 Ali Fire Door Repairs Reg’d is born and operates out of the family home garage in LaSalle, Quebec, Canada.
1975 The company purchases and moves into a 1,000 sq.ft. industrial building in Montreal-North, Quebec, Canada. It purchases its first piece of equipment to commence manufacturing door frames in a small scale.
1980 The company’s growth forces it to relocate into a 2,000 sq.ft. building also located in Montreal-North.
1982 Ali Fire Door Reg’d forms a corporation and continues to do business under its new identity as Ali-Porte Inc. It acquiries more equipment to expand it production of door frames.
1984 The company’s rapid growth surpasses expectations and forces it to move into another larger industrial building, a 4,000 sq.ft. in Montreal-North.
1986 Ali-Porte Inc experiences exponential growth and builds a new 12,000 sq.ft. facility in Anjou, Quebec, Canada. New equipment is purchased and Ali-Porte completes its full manufacturing line for door frame products.
1988 In only its second year at its new facility, Ali-Porte Inc is once again expanding. It constructs an additional 12,000 sq.ft. to its existing building and now under a 24,000 sq.ft. facility combined with the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment Ali-Porte commences its full production line of hollow metal doors.
1991 Ali-Porte Inc opens a 10,000 sq.ft. manufacturing plant in the United States and operates under the name of North American Door Corp better known as Nadcor.
1995 Montreal head office relocates from Anjou to a 73,000 sq.ft. building in Saint-Laurent, Quebec and additional state-of-the-art automated equipment is purchased and several pieces of existing equipment is updated.
1996 The US manufacturing plant expands to 20,000 sq.ft. combined with automation of the US plant’s manufacturing process.
2001 Construction of a new 66,000 sq.ft. plant in Cornwall, Ontario.
2008 Gensteel Doors relocates its US manufacturing facility into a modern 35,000 sq.ft. building equipped with major equipment improvements and new equipment investment.
2011 Gensteel Doors opens a new warehouse in Atlanta, Georgia.
2017 Gensteel Doors opens a new manufacturing facility in Madison, Georgia.


Today, Gensteel Doors has three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in North America and has a world-wide distribution network:

Saint-Laurent, Québec
Cornwall, Ontario
Madison, Georgia

 

Together, over 225,000 sq. ft. and over 150 employees that are proud in providing the construction industry with their quality products.
